Minister’s Assessment delivered – Burra Creek ER

The release of the Minister for Planning’s assessment concludes the Environment Report (ER) process for the Burra Creek Victorian Murray Floodplain Restoration Project.

Individual VMFRP projects are assessed on their merits in an open and transparent manner through the planning system.

Rigorous assessment processes have found four of the five VMFRP proposals assessed to date will deliver overall improvements to these sites; however, the Burra Creek project has not met this criteria and will not proceed in its current form. Options to support the health of the Burra Creek floodplain are to be explored outside of the VMFRP.

Victoria will continue to pursue approvals for the remaining four VMFRP sites and is seeking the Commonwealth Government provide funding certainty for this to occur.
